Picture frame repair and restoration in Manhattan

A damaged frame is not always the end of the frame. Bring it in and we will tell you plainly what can be done.

Why people bring frames back

Frames take knocks. Moves loosen corners, dry winters open joints, sunlight fades mats, and glass cracks. An older frame may also carry a family history or a craftsmanship that is hard to replace, which makes repairing it worth a conversation.

Sometimes the frame is fine and the problem is what is inside it. A mat that has discolored or a backing that has given up can change how the whole piece looks.

What to tell us

  • What happened. A fall, water, sunlight or simply age.
  • What you know about it. Where it came from, how old it is, and whether it has been repaired before.
  • What you want. A faithful restoration, a sturdy working repair, or a new frame that suits the piece better.

How it works

Bring the piece to the shop, damage and all. Please do not try to glue or clean it first, because that can make repair harder. We will look it over and talk through your options, including whether repair or a new frame makes more sense.

If a replacement turns out to be the better choice, the shop's custom framing range and antique and classic frames are right there on the wall to compare.

What it costs

Repair work varies with the damage, so we would rather see the piece than guess. Call (212) 831-2224 to describe it, or stop in during opening hours.
